Mass planting

Have been up on The Gippsland Lakes enjoying the Christmas/New Year break. A beautiful part of the world and of course I managed to find a garden on the banks of the Tambo River at Johnsonville. This is the Charles Blackwood Garden, a small native garden

making great use of mass planting. This close up shot is deceptive it gives the impression of a meadow of native grass when in fact it’s a relatively small space.
Whether it be natives or something else, think Dietes (wild iris) or Agapanthus, that you will see all over Melbourne at the moment. Mass planting always works well in small gardens. Happy new year!
