Small Spaces Garden Design is Melbourne based and offers a full design service. We can take your project from an initial consultation, through to completion.

Small Spaces has been designing gardens since 1997. The owner, Kate Smalley has studied horticulture at both NMIT and Burnley College.  You can hear Kate on 3WBC 94.1FM with Mike O’Connell on The Good Earth.  You can also spot her at Speed Date a Sustainable Expert events, hosted by the ATA.

Small Spaces designs are one off’s, developed to cater for each individual client’s requirements and budget. Small gardens need to work hard, you need to maximise every aspect – garden views, trees, vegies, dogs, kids, bikes, parking. It all needs to fit in a small space, be functional and naturally look great.

We’ve been in business for 21 years and developed strong relationships and good contacts.  We work with a range of quality contractors on a regular basis.  Our aim is to do a good job, ensure the integrity of the design and create a garden that you can enjoy for years to come.  If you engage Small Spaces to oversee your project, you can be confident that the contractors we use produce work of the highest standards.

Small Spaces aims to create gardens that not only look great but are sustainable.  We are mindful of our environment in all aspects of our projects.  We consider the use of resources from the start with soil preparation, planting schemes, the materials we choose to use in the constructed landscape, and, the disposal of waste.
