Small courtyard, small tree

I was in North Melbourne recently doing a consultation for a new apartment and decided to slip past a job we did year’s ago. What a delight.  We had planted a Trident Maple in this tiny courtyard and it has thrived.

Small courtyards are always a challenge, and this one was a particulary challenging, limited planting space, a large established Plane tree on the other side of the fence, and lots of pipes not to be interferred with.  We chose the Trident Maple (Acer buergeranum), as it could cope with all these conditions.

Apart from planting the maple, this courtyard has a custom built shed and fence to house all the things a small space needs to, including the surf board and bike storage.  NorthMelbourneMaple
